Use it wisely

Use it wisely

Artificial intelligence is a powerful tool, and its real value appears when we use it wisely. These are the principles behind all our guides.

Check before you rely on it

Tools can present wrong information or non-existent sources with complete confidence. Verify important information in a reliable source before using or sharing it.

Protect your personal data

Do not enter full names, ID numbers, addresses, health or financial data, or confidential information about your work or other people.

Maintain academic integrity

Follow the rules of your school, university or workplace, disclose your use of the tool when required, and do not present the tool’s work as yours alone.

People decide

The tool suggests; you judge and decide. Educational, family and professional decisions remain your responsibility.

Watch for bias

Answers may reflect biases in the data the tool learned from. Ask: who is missing from this answer, and does it suit our context and culture?

Accompany children

Children and teenagers need family supervision, and each tool’s minimum age set in its terms of use should be respected.

A quick checklist before using any answer

  • Do I understand the answer and can I explain it in my own words?
  • Have I verified the important information in a reliable source?
  • Did my input avoid personal and confidential data?
  • Is my use consistent with the rules of my school or workplace?
